Perth’s independent scene runs on daily hire, not the weekly all-inclusive packages you find in Brisbane or Melbourne. We pulled every rated car rental operator in Greater Perth and kept only the true independents: Western Australian-owned, no international chains, no camper or 4WD-expedition outfits, no mine-spec or construction fleet hire. This page is written for someone hiring by the week or the month — rideshare and delivery drivers especially — not a three-day holiday.

Prices, bonds and terms read from each operator’s own website on 17 September 2026, except where a site could not be reached today — noted against that operator, with the August 2026 reading used instead. Google ratings are from the 23 August 2026 census, scored on a Bayesian average on 17 September 2026. Quick comparison

The six things that decide whether you can actually rent: what a week costs, how long you must commit, what you have to put down, how far you can drive, how old you must be, and whether an overseas licence works. Two of the six are blank for every single operator on this list: not one of Perth’s top ten publishes a weekly rate, and not one states a minimum rental term.

Read down this table and Perth looks even quieter than Brisbane did before its own rewrite: two of the ten publish no price of any kind, and the other eight quote a daily figure only — nobody puts a week or a month on their own website. That is the reason this page exists.

The top 10

1. TAK8 Car Rental — 5.0★ (570) · 4.954 adjusted · East Perth

Best rated in Perth, and the least it will tell you. A perfect 5.0 across 570 ratings — the strongest record in this city — out of a head office at 17 Regal Place, East Perth. Its headline rate is $25/day, but that figure only applies to rentals of 28 days or more; nothing shorter is priced anywhere on the site.

Cover is a choice between Standard ($0/day, $5,000 single-vehicle excess) and Peace of Mind ($22/day, $500 excess, and the only tier with a stated bond — $200). No minimum age, kilometre allowance or overseas-licence rule is published; every one of those questions is answered with “contact us” on its own FAQ page. Approved driving is within 500km of Perth, with Geraldton, Paynes Find and Southern Cross named as the limits, and towing is not allowed without prior approval. Its fair-use terms rule out courier and security-patrol work but say nothing about rideshare either way.

Who it’s for: a renter who already knows what they want and is booking a month or more, and is comfortable getting everything else by phone or email. Who it’s not for: anyone who wants a bond, an age limit or a kilometre allowance in writing before they call — none of the three exists on the site.

2. Cheap Car Rental Perth — 5.0★ (243) · 4.903 adjusted · Baldivis

One flat price, no tiers. Out of Baldivis, south of the river, serving Perth, Rockingham and Baldivis. $45/day for a manual Toyota Yaris or Honda Jazz, rising through $49 (MG, Kia Rio, Hyundai i20), $59 (Kia Cerato, Mercedes E-Class, MG ZS SUV) to $79 for a 2014 Mercedes e250 coupe.

Nothing else is published. Its Terms & Conditions page returns a “page not found” error today, and the About page is marketing copy with no age, bond, card or licence rule anywhere on it.

Who it’s for: a short booking at one clear, easy-to-compare price. Who it’s not for: anyone who wants a bond amount, an age limit or a licence rule in writing before they call — none of the three exists, and the terms page that should carry them does not load.

3. H2O Holiday Car Rentals — 5.0★ (228) · 4.898 adjusted · Bentley

The one built for rideshare and tours. Bentley-based, running ten fleet categories from compact to luxury SUV, buses and people movers — and the only operator on this list with a dedicated Passenger Transport Vehicle (PTV) for rideshare driving and tour operators. It also runs airport transfers and hotel pickup and drop-off. H2O’s own site could not be reached on 17 September 2026, so everything here comes from our reading of it on 25 August 2026.

Bond is $550 on standard vehicles, deducted from the card on file. Insurance excess is $5,500 standard, reducing to $550 on a passenger car or $1,100 on a commercial vehicle with its liability-reduction package. Kilometres are 100km/day on Perth suburban plans, with an unlimited option. Drivers must be 25 or over, with a $22/day surcharge for ages 22–24, and an international licence needs a notarised copy or NAATI translation if it is not in English.

Who it’s for: a rideshare or tour-operator driver who wants a purpose-built vehicle rather than an ordinary hatchback. Who it’s not for: anyone under 25 — there is no published path around that floor.

4. Dream Car Rental — 4.9★ (743) · 4.871 adjusted · Kewdale

Cheapest published rate on this list, and the youngest minimum age. Out of Kewdale, five minutes from Perth Airport with a free VIP shuttle. Its range runs from $24/day for an MG3 hatchback or Suzuki Swift, $33 for a Suzuki S-Cross, $47 for a Renault Koleos, $65 for an Isuzu MU-X, $100 for a Kia Carnival and $120 for a 12-seat Toyota HiAce Commuter, up to $110/day for an Audi A3 and considerably more across its published prestige and luxury tiers.

Minimum age is 18 on the standard range — compact, compact SUV, people movers, utes and vans — rising to 25 for the Prestige range and 30 for luxury. It is the only operator on our nine city lists that rents to an 18-year-old at all. A security deposit is required but the amount varies by vehicle and driver age with no fixed figure published. It accepts an Australian or International driver’s licence without stating a translation requirement, and takes a credit or debit card. Home delivery across metro Perth is $85; airport pickup is free.

Who it’s for: an 18-to-24-year-old who cannot rent almost anywhere else on this list, and anyone wanting the widest published fleet range in Perth. Who it’s not for: anyone who wants the bond amount in writing before they book — it depends on category and age and is not published as a number.

5. Move Car Rental — 5.0★ (147) · 4.856 adjusted · Balcatta

Cars only, for now — and only within Perth. New to this list. Out of Balcatta, serving Innaloo, Stirling, Scarborough, Karrinyup and Osborne Park. Two cars are actually available to book: a Hyundai Getz from $27/day and a Toyota Corolla from $32/day. A Mitsubishi Triton ute and a 12-seat Toyota Hiace are both listed as “coming soon” — not yet part of the fleet, which is why this operator still counts as a car rental rather than a ute or van hire business.

Bond is $500, kilometres are unlimited subject to a “reasonable use” condition, and an international licence is accepted with a translation required if it is not in English. The one hard limit: vehicles are restricted to the Perth metro area only — no country or interstate travel is allowed on any booking.

Who it’s for: a metro-only renter who wants a straightforward hatchback or sedan and a lower bond than most of this list. Who it’s not for: anyone planning a regional trip, or anyone who needs a ute or a van today rather than “soon.”

6. Perth Rent-A-Car — 4.9★ (214) · 4.811 adjusted · West Perth

A new counter with an unfinished contract. New to this list. Trading as Perth Rent-A-Car (legally Drive Tribe Australia Pty Ltd) from 545 Newcastle Street, West Perth. Its published Kia fleet runs $25.50/day for a Picanto, $50 for a Haval Jolion compact SUV, $68 for a Mitsubishi Outlander 7-seater and $120 for a Kia Carnival.

Its own pages disagree on the minimum age: the homepage says 21, with a surcharge for 21–24, while its FAQ page says 22 flat. We could not reconcile the two, so no single number appears in this page’s comparison table. A bond is required but the amount is confirmed only at booking; a $110 admin fee applies after an accident, and cancelling inside 7 days of pickup forfeits the full charge. Its own Terms & Conditions page is marked, in its own words, “a draft for review and has not been checked by a lawyer,” with a placeholder ABN of 00 000 000 000.

Who it’s for: a West Perth renter who wants a specific, published price per model. Who it’s not for: anyone who needs a settled minimum age or a finished contract before they book — this operator does not yet have either in writing.

7. Burswood Car Rentals — 4.8★ (1,280) · 4.786 adjusted · Burswood

Forty-two years in, and still not sure how old you have to be. The biggest published fleet on this list — compacts, sedans, SUVs, luxury Audis, an 8-seat Kia Carnival, a Hilux and electric vehicles — from $25/day, out of Burswood. Over 42 years trading and 1,280 ratings, the most reviews of any Perth independent here.

Its own pages contradict each other on age: the Terms & Conditions page states a minimum of 20 (maximum 75); its FAQ page states 19. We record the Terms figure as the contractual one. A $5/day surcharge applies under 25 and to green P-plate holders; red P-platers are not hired to at all. Bond is $500, reduced to $400, $300 or $200 across its liability-reduction tiers (luxury vehicles are a fixed $500), and a debit-card payer adds $200 to whichever tier applies. It is one of the few operators here that states an international licence carries no extra fee. Kilometres are 100 free per day or 200 for $5/day, with excess kilometres at $0.27–$0.37; unsealed-road driving is prohibited.

Who it’s for: anyone who wants Perth’s widest independent fleet and an international licence with no surcharge. Who it’s not for: a 19-year-old relying on the FAQ — the contract you actually sign asks for 20.

8. City Centre Car Rentals — 4.8★ (1,034) · 4.783 adjusted · South Guildford

Tells you almost nothing about price — and says no to rideshare in writing. In business since 1982, out of South Guildford minutes from the airport, with over a thousand ratings — but no price of any kind, daily or otherwise, is published anywhere on its site.

Drivers must be 21 to 75, with an unpublished age-based excess for 21–24. Bond is $500 on a credit card or $1,100 on a debit card. An overseas licence needs an International Driving Permit or a translation the company itself approves. Its contract explicitly bans rideshare, taxi work, food delivery and courier use — the only flat prohibition of its kind on this list. Unsealed-road driving (beaches, sand, dunes, dirt roads, fire trails, national parks) and towing are both prohibited.

Who it’s for: a mainstream sedan or SUV rental for someone who does not drive for a platform. Who it’s not for: any rideshare, delivery or taxi driver — this is the one operator here whose contract says no outright — and anyone who wants a price before they call.

9. Ozkarz Car Hire — 5.0★ (37) · 4.674 adjusted · Nollamara

The one we could barely read. Based in Nollamara, reachable by phone, email or WhatsApp, with a “Start Reservation” booking flow and a fleet page on its site — but we could only load its contact page this round. No price, bond, age or licence rule appears anywhere we could reach.

Who it’s for: someone happy to call, message or email before knowing anything about price or policy. Who it’s not for: anyone comparing options in advance — there is nothing here yet to compare. Worth a re-read with a fuller crawl before this operator’s next update.

10. Ace Rent A Car — 4.7★ (344) · 4.666 adjusted

Cheapest published rate, tied with Dream — and the one whose ownership its own site won’t state. Two branches — Redcliffe, near the airport with a complimentary shuttle, and Victoria Park — trading as acerent.com.au. Ace’s own site could not be reached on 17 September 2026, so this entry uses our reading of it on 25 August 2026. From $24/day for a Kia Picanto, $29 for an MG ZS, $48 for an Isuzu D-Max, $56 for a Toyota Hiace and $150 for a Hiace minibus, with airport specials from $39/day.

Bond is $700, refundable. Kilometres are 100/day included at $0.30/km beyond that, unlimited from three days. An overseas licence needs an official translation if it is not in Latin characters. Its own site states over 30 years trading but does not say who owns it, and does not distinguish itself from the similarly-named Ace Rental Cars chain (a separate, New Zealand-based business at acerentalcars.com.au) — so we describe only what it publishes, not its ownership. It previously appeared on this list with three branches including Mandurah; its own site shows two, and we have corrected that here.

Who it’s for: an airport pickup at the same $24/day floor as Dream Car Rental, with unlimited kilometres from a 3-day hire. Who it’s not for: anyone who needs written confirmation of who owns the business — its own site does not say.

Just outside the ten

Cottesloe Car & Ute Hire (4.7★ over 85 ratings · 4.601 adjusted · Swanbourne) held this list’s ninth spot until today; it did not get worse, the ranking changed under it. Its August reading shows a 10%-of-rental bond to reserve, a $2,000 insurance excess on its 7-day promotional rates, and a fleet from a $25/day Hyundai i20 up to an $85/day Kia Carnival.

Easy Rent A Car Perth (4.7★ over 71 · 4.589 adjusted) and Aries Car Rental (4.6★ over 394 — merging two Google listings for the same business, its main profile and a separate Perth Airport profile · 4.581 adjusted) round out the next two places. We have not read either site closely enough this round to describe their terms, so we are not going to guess; a call to either is still a call into the same unknowns most of the ten above them leave unanswered.

How we ranked these operators

Every operator’s rating was pulled from Google Maps in the 23 August 2026 census, and scored on 17 September 2026 on a Bayesian average — the same method IMDb uses for its Top 250, and the one we now use across every Carz city ranking. Every business starts with 50 notional ratings at the market average, and its real ratings are added to those. The market average is 4.432★, measured across the 677 independent car rental operators in our national census. The floor stays the same as Brisbane’s: at least 15 ratings and 4.3★.

Of the 91 car rental businesses we compared in Greater Perth, 66 have a Google rating and 25 have none at all — classified, never scored. Thirty pass our floor; this page ranks the top ten of those that are true independent car rental businesses.

Excluded, and why. Four operators that would otherwise have scored into this list turned out, on reading their own sites, to be something other than a car rental: RedSands Campers, Broome & Beyond and Bivouac Adventures are all 4WD camper and motorhome hire — “Camper Hire Australia” and “4WD Camper Hire” are the words each uses about itself — and Western Work Force Fleet Hire is mine-spec utes, trucks, wagons and buses for construction and mining sites, not consumer car rental. A fifth, Drive Ready Australia, presents itself primarily as a vehicle inspection and mechanical workshop with a small hire fleet for taxi and rideshare drivers and an accident-replacement service; it publishes no price, bond or age rule anywhere for a general renter, so we left it out rather than rank a business that isn’t really offering what this page compares. A sixth, Defender Adventure, could not be read at all — its site did not load today and we hold no earlier reading of it — so with zero verifiable facts about what it rents or on what terms, we are not going to place it in a public ranking on the strength of its name alone; it is a candidate for a future crawl, not this list.

Two Google listings, one business, twice. Ace Rent A Car had two Google profiles under the same domain (with and without “www”) — 344 ratings at 4.7★ and a second with 37 at 4.8★. We scored the business once, using the profile with more ratings. Aries Car Rental had the same pattern — a main profile and a separate Perth Airport profile — and we merged them the same way, into the “just outside” entry above.

Who left the top ten, and who is new. Perth City Car Rentals, published in our previous list at 5.0★ over 34 ratings, did not surface in the 23 August 2026 Places census at all — it has no listing in that sweep, so it has no rating and could not be scored. That is different from losing its place: it was never compared this round, and it re-enters when a future census catches it. Cottesloe Car & Ute Hire, published ninth previously, moved to “just outside the ten” above on the same recalculation that changed Brisbane’s order in August: it did not get worse, the weight given to volume changed under it. Two entirely new operators enter this list on their nota alone: Move Car Rental and Perth Rent-A-Car. A third, Ozkarz Car Hire, also enters on its nota despite our only reaching one page of its site.

Prices, bonds, minimum terms, kilometre allowances, age limits and licence rules were read from each operator’s own website on 17 September 2026 — never from a directory, an aggregator or a booking site — except H2O Holiday Car Rentals and Ace Rent A Car, whose sites did not load today; those two entries use our reading from 25 August 2026, cited against each fact. Where an operator publishes nothing, the table says Not published; it never says “no.”

What Perth operators require

Age is the first door, and two of the ten cannot tell you where it is. Dream Car Rental is the most open, at 18 for its standard fleet. H2O sits at 25, and City Centre runs 21 to 75. Burswood and Perth Rent-A-Car each publish two different minimum ages on their own sites — 19 or 20 at Burswood, 21 or 22 at Perth Rent-A-Car — and we could not reconcile either pair. TAK8, Cheap Car Rental Perth, Move Car Rental and Ozkarz Car Hire publish no age at all.

An overseas licence is workable almost everywhere, but seven different rules cover it. Burswood accepts one at no extra charge. H2O, Move Car Rental, Perth Rent-A-Car and City Centre all want a translation or an International Driving Permit if the licence is not in English. Ace Rent A Car wants a translation only if the licence is not in Latin characters. Dream Car Rental accepts one without naming a translation requirement. The other three publish no rule at all.

The bond runs from $200 to $700 among the six that publish a figure — and even TAK8’s $200 only applies if you choose its Peace of Mind cover over its cheaper Standard tier, which trades the bond for a $5,000 excess instead. Four operators — Cheap Car Rental Perth, Dream Car Rental, Perth Rent-A-Car and Ozkarz Car Hire — require a bond without saying how much.

Debit cards work at more of these than credit-only chains would suggest. Dream Car Rental, Perth Rent-A-Car, Burswood and City Centre all accept one, though Burswood and City Centre both charge a higher bond on debit than credit. Ace Rent A Car’s FAQ and H2O’s reading are both silent on card type either way.

Kilometres are the quietest column on this page. Only five of the ten publish an allowance at all: H2O and City Centre both offer 100km/day with an unlimited upgrade, Burswood is 100 free or 200 for $5/day, Move Car Rental is unlimited subject to “reasonable use,” and Ace Rent A Car is 100/day with unlimited from a three-day hire.

Weekly vs daily in Perth

We cannot run the exact comparison we ran for Brisbane, because not one operator on this list publishes both a daily and a weekly figure for the same car — the maths that showed Flex Drive’s Toyota Yaris was 38% cheaper by the week simply has no Perth equivalent to check.

The closest thing to a long-term signal is TAK8 Car Rental’s own pricing structure: its advertised $25/day only applies to bookings of 28 days or more. That implies a shorter stay costs more — TAK8 just does not say how much more, and neither does anyone else here publish a second, shorter-term number next to a long-term one for the same vehicle. Comparing weekly against daily in Perth today means calling and asking for both figures yourself.

What the list says about Perth’s rental market

Two patterns stand out, and the first is a genuine gap on the six-city question this series keeps asking. Every single operator in Perth’s top ten publishes daily pricing only — not the three-of-ten split Brisbane shows, but zero of ten. Even the best-rated business in the city, TAK8, ties its one published figure to a 28-day minimum rather than a weekly rate. For anyone renting by the week or the month here, that means this page’s job — reading the fine print so you do not have to call ten businesses to compare six numbers — matters more in Perth than anywhere else in this series.

The second is a split on the renter Carz actually built this page for: the rideshare and delivery driver, not the week-long holidaymaker. H2O Holiday Car Rentals is the one operator here that names that renter directly, with a purpose-built Passenger Transport Vehicle. City Centre Car Rentals goes the other way, banning rideshare, taxi and delivery work outright in its contract. The other eight say nothing either way — which, for a platform driver choosing where to rent long-term, is a question worth asking before you book rather than after.
